Kessinger sidelined by freak accident
Patriots CF/P Russell Kessinger will be sidelined after a freak accident involving a french fry has left him with limited vision in his right eye.
Already short-handed for this weekend's games, the organization must be wondering what will happen next after receiving a cryptic text message from the lefty on Wednesday. Initially saying only that he had been attacked by a french fry and would be out until further notice, Kessinger - a bartender in Baltimore - sent the photo to the left to Pats management on Thursday morning with further explanation. "One of the kitchen guys threw a french fry from behind the line, square into my right eye." Kessinger said. "I go back to the doctor next week."
Although he has struggled in his last two appearances, Kessinger remains a key player for the Patriots, serving as their leadoff hitter and primary left-handed pitcher. He says he still has vision in the eye but that it has been tearing and is sensitive to sunlight.
"What can you even say?" said a visibly bewildered Keith Fischer. "He's sustained a freak injury involving a french fry. Maybe now we can say that we've seen it all this season. But good teams deal with adversity, no matter how strange. As for Russell, our thoughts are with him and we are hoping for his sake that he will be able to make a full recovery."
Kessinger should learn more about the status of his eye by next week.
